The Hobart Hurricanes return to Ninja Stadium tomorrow night to take on the Sydney Thunder in the inaugural Ponting Foundation Game.
This game will provide vital awareness for a cause that is very close to our Head of Strategy, Ricky Ponting and his family, in raising money for Tasmanian families whose children have cancer.
After the rain affected match last night against the Thunder, both teams received one point, which has either team one win clear of the fourth placed, Brisbane Heat.
A win would see the Hurricanes move to first place (if the Sydney Sixers lose tonight), or to outright second place (if the Sydney Sixers win).
The Hurricanes have lost key overseas players, Shai Hope and Waqar Salamkheil, who have both travelled to the UAE after last night's washout to play in the ILT20 competition.
Hope had been a consistent performer for the Hurricanes batting at number three, averaging 20.60 in his five matches for the Purple Army.
Salamkheil proved to be a great signing, taking six wickets in his five games and had opposing batters struggling to face his left arm leg-spin.
The Hurricanes have chosen to put their faith in the local players on their list, and at this stage, won't be topping up their squad with other Overseas Signings.
Coming into tomorrow night's squad is left-handed batter, Caleb Jewell, and Marcus Bean, who will be presented with his first Hurricanes cap, if selected.
The second vs third matchup between the Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder is at Ninja Stadium and starts at 7.15 pm.
The Hurricanes fourteen-man squad consists of:
Nathan Ellis (c)
Marcus Bean
Nikhil Chaudhary
Tim David
Paddy Dooley
Peter Hatzoglou
Caleb Jewell
Chris Jordan (O/S)
