Fresh off a huge win against the Perth Scorchers, the Hobart Hurricanes travel to South Australia to take on the Adelaide Strikers on 27 December in their last match for 2024.
The Hurricanes chased down the Scorchers target of 155 runs with four balls to spare on Saturday at home, as they notched their first win of BBL|14.
Led well by skipper Nathan Ellis (1/28), and paceman Riley Meredith, who had his best figures of the season (3/27) and held the BBL Golden Cap (leading competition wicket taker) for 24 hours before being overtaken by Tasmanian Tiger Tom Rogers (7 wickets).
Mitch Owen was the star for the Hurricanes, carrying his bat in a terrific victory, scoring 101* not out off 64 balls in his maiden BBL century, and was well supported by Overseas Signing, West Indian Shai Hope (38 off 35).
The match against the Strikers starts at 7.15 pm Hobart time, and the squad travels to Adelaide on Boxing Day ahead of the December 27 match.
Tomorrow night's squad includes batsman, Charlie Wakim, who remains in the Hurricanes squad following Matthew Wade's injured calf.
If selected, Wakim will make his debut for the Hurricanes, and will be presented with Cap no. 97.
Also recalled into the Hurricanes squad for their potential first game of the season is Paddy Dooley, who will relish any opportunity to play for the Purple Army.
