The Hurricanes are full of Beans following new replacement signing!

The Hobart Hurricanes can announce today their latest signing with Queenslander, Marcus Bean signing as an injury replacement player for BBL|14.

Bean will replace Mac Wright, who sustained a knee injury during a One Day Cup match against Queensland in February last season.

Wright is tracking well for a return to Cricket Tasmania Premier League action in the new year and depending on his rehab in the next few weeks, could be available towards the backend of BBL.

Bean is a towering left-arm quick who is well over 200cm and will be looking to use his height to make life difficult for opposing batters in BBL|14.

He is pumped to sign with the Hurricanes, and hopefully make his domestic cricket debut this summer.

“It has always been a dream of mine to play professional cricket, and I have always looked at the Big Bash and thought I wanted to play on one of the biggest stages in Australian cricket.

"I am thankful to the Hurricanes for providing this opportunity to me, and I am excited to be showing the fans in Tasmania, and the rest of the country my talent," said Bean.

Scouted by Hurricanes Assistant Coach, James Hopes, Bean has been playing in the Queensland Premier League for Northern Suburbs, though he is still very young in his cricket career.

At only 21 years of age, he is only scratching the surface of his potential.

He has played one T20 for Lindisfarne in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League and will play again during the T20 Semi-Finals this weekend.

High Performance General Manager, Salliann Beams, is delighted to have someone of Bean’s potential around the Hurricanes group this season.

“Marcus came highly recommended by our Assistant Coach, James Hopes, when he saw him play during the T20 Max in Brisbane, and in grade cricket games over the past twelve months.

“He, and now we, are excited by Marcus’ potential, considering his height along with the pace and bounce he can produce with the ball.

“While he is still very raw, we can see the potential in him, and hope that we can provide him with some great experience around the group this summer.”

Bean joins Iain Carlisle, Nikhil Chaudhary, Tim David, Paddy Dooley, Jake Doran, Nathan Ellis, Peter Hatzoglou, Shai Hope (O/S), Caleb Jewell, Chris Jordan (O/S), Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Waqar Salamakhei (O/S), Billy Stanlake, Matthew Wade, Charlie Wakim, and Mac Wright as Hurricanes players under contract ahead of BBL|14.

The Hobart Hurricanes start their BBL|14 campaign in less than a week, playing against the Melbourne Renegades at Geelong in their first game.
