In unfortunate news for all Hobart Hurricanes fans, 21-year-old Hayley Silver-Holmes will be unavailable for WBBL|10 following an injury to her elbow which now requires surgery.
After a stellar 2023-24 season, ending in Australia ‘A’ honours, Silver-Holmes was poised for a breakout WBBL|10 before the elbow injury prevented her from playing in this year’s tournament.
The all-rounder is a talented right-arm swing-bowler and strong lower-order batter, and is undergoing surgery in the coming weeks, and will begin rehab on the injury soon after.
After playing for Tasmania in the opening four matches of the WNCL Season, Silver-Holmes went to Adelaide to play in the T20 Spring Challenge where the injury to her elbow provided too much discomfort for her to continue playing.
Head Coach, Jude Coleman discussed her disappointment to see Silver-Holmes go down with injury.
“Hayley was a massive part of our squad heading into WBBL|10, she went from strength-to-strength last season, and to see her go down with an injury considering her talent and great potential is a shame for all fans of the Hurricanes.
“We will support her in the recovery from this injury, and hope she returns towards to playing as soon as possible.”
An update on Silver-Holmes’ return to play will be provided in due course.
