The Hobart Hurricanes WBBL|10 squad has two more young guns signed to their list as of today!
Hurricanes fans are familiar with the talent of Tabatha Saville, who played for the Hurricanes last season, but Callie Wilson is a new face who will be looking to terrorise opposing batters.
Saville, who returned to professional cricket last season, signed with the Tasmanian Tigers in the WNCL before penning a Hurricanes contract before WBBL|09.
She is pumped to be returning to wear purple again in WBBL|10.
“I am grateful for the opportunity and super excited to be in the purple this year, I can’t wait to see what the season brings for our group,” discussed Saville.
Last season saw Saville play in two WBBL|09 games since returning to WBBL action after a four-year hiatus.
She played 29 matches for the Adelaide Strikers from 2017-19 as she scored 171 runs, but the 25-year-old is supremely talented and had a top score of 55 in the WNCL and an average of 50.33 across 8 WNCL matches, with three of those scores being not out.
A talented middle to lower-order batter who can put the pressure back on opposing bowling units, Saville will use her power hitting to excite Hurricanes fans.
High Performance General Manager, Salliann Beams discussed her happiness to see Saville back around the Hurricanes program.
“Tabs is a great talent, she shows a willingness to continue to improve and has incredible power with the bat which adds another element to our middle to lower-order batting.
“She was exposed to WBBL Cricket early on in her career, and if given an opportunity, I know she has the experience and can perform for our franchise,” stated Beams.
Callie Wilson has been on the Tasmanian Tigers list for three seasons after moving from South Australia at the beginning of the 2022-23 season.
After suffering from stress-related injuries, Wilson has been able to string some strong performances together at the back end of the Cricket Tasmania Premier League season and in the off-season for Ipswich in the Women’s T20 Max in Queensland.
Wilson’s speed is one of her biggest strengths, and as she continues to improve with more experience playing cricket at the highest level, her confidence will too.
She made her debut for Tasmania last week in Perth, taking two wickets as she opened the bowling for Tasmania, and she hopes to make her debut for the Hobart Hurricanes in WBBL|10 this season.

"She took wickets in the KFC T20 Max in Queensland earlier this year, made her debut last week for the Tigers, and has been bowling seriously fast in the nets, much to the worry of our batters!"
The Hobart Hurricanes WBBL|10 squad is now two steps closer to being finalised, with one final spot to be announced in the coming weeks.
Saville and Wilson join Nicola Carey, Heather Graham, Ruth Johnston, Lizelle Lee (O/S), Hayley Silver-Holmes, Amy Smith, Lauren Smith, Molly Strano, Rachel Trenaman, Chloe Tryon (O/S), Elyse Villani, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge (O/S).
WBBL|10 is less than four weeks away from starting with Hobart’s first game against the Sydney Thunder at Bellerive Oval on 28 October.
