With their first meeting agaonst the Scorchers washed out without a ball bowled, Saturday will be the Hurricanes first chance to take on the new-look Scorchers side this season.
Nicola Carey could prove to be a key player for the Hurricanes, with the all-rounder having taken more wickets against the Scorchers (17) than she has against any other side. In fact, Carey has only bowled one innings against the Scorchers since the inception of the WBBL where she has gone wicketless.
After their heartbreaking loss to the Thunder by a single run two weeks ago, the ‘Canes will be looking to turn the tables when the face them again on Sunday. Sammy-Jo Johnson remained wicketless the last time the two teams last met – a trend the Hurricanes will be looking to continue.
Hurricanes opening bowler, Belinda Vakawera, currently sits on 49 league wickets, with any scalp she takes this weekend meaning she will reach the milestone of having taken 50 WBBL wickets.
The 14-player squad named for this week’s matches remains unchanged, and is as below:
Corinne Hall (c)
Nell Bryson Smith
Nicola Carey
Brooke Hepburn
Erica Kershaw
Hayley Matthews
Sasha Moloney
Rachel Priest
Chloe Rafferty
