The Hurricanes made their way up to Launceston with the hopes of a redemption win against the Brisbane Heat.
Hobart was desperate for the win in order to make their way into finals, pending results from this evening's match with the Stars and Thunder.
After losing the bat flip the Hurricanes were sent into bat, including one change to their line up with the addition of Mac Wright returning from injury.
We saw a change up in the opening pair as Zak Crawley was bumped to the top of the order alongside Caleb Jewell.
It looked like the ‘Canes were off to a strong start with Jewell putting everything on the line until he found himself out for 17 runs off 14 balls.
Unfortunately, Zak Crawley also fell to an impressive catch from Marnus Labuschagne, with the Hurricanes unable to find a boundary in the next three overs.
Ben McDermott struggled to get off his mark departing on 2 runs, leaving Mac Wright at the crease to keep the ship steady.
Wright got himself into shape with two consecutive boundaries, before Tim David departed on just 4 runs.
It was a slow and steady innings from Wright that allowed the Hurricanes total to increase as Wade came into the match with a minor stint before being caught by Renshaw.
After bringing up his half century, Mac Wright departed on 56 off 56 – the highest score for the Hurricanes innings.
The wickets fell in quick fashion, leaving the Hurricanes 9-120 by the end of the innings, a total that would be tough to defend.
The Heat found their form early on, sitting comfortably on 0-17 by the 2nd over – but it was once again Riley Meredith who claimed Hobart’s first for the day.
The magic continued into the second over with Nathan Ellis collecting Labuschagne with a clean bowled.
But it was in the 5th over that the game really kicked into gear for Hobart as Faheem Ashraf claimed Josh Brown before a sublime run out from Zak Crawley left the heat 4-33.
The Hurricanes really struggled to continue their form as the Heat began to keep themselves steady and calm at the crease.
It really wasn’t until a bouncer clipped Sam Hain in the hand that the momentum shifted, with Hain finding himself out just one over later – giving the Hurricanes one last glance at victory.
It was Nathan Ellis who stepped up in the 17th over and showed exactly why he’s our death bowler claiming the dangerous Jimmy Peirson on 39.
The match was completely turned on its head as Paris claimed Michael Neser leaving the Heat requiring just 10 runs off the final over.
Tim David stepped up and in astonishing fashion with two dots before running out Matt Kuhnemann, leaving the heat still needing 10 runs to win off 3 balls.
James Bazley smashed a six before David replied with a dot ball, and a single to gift the Hurricanes an astounding victory and leaving them in contention for finals.
Player of the Match was awarded to Nathan Ellis, with the fate of the season resting on tonight’s match with the Stars and the Thunder.
