Hooley Dooley - Paddy signs on 'til 2025

Arguably the break-out star of KFC BBL|12, whilst initially talked about for his unique bowling action, Dooley quickly became one of the leading wicket-takers of the season, bamboozling some of the world’s best batsmen with the ‘double windmill’.

After playing a single Big Bash League game for the Brisbane Heat in BBL|11 as a COVID replacement player, Dooley signed his first fully-fledged Big Bash contract with the Hurricanes in BBL|12.

Despite some unfortunate luck with injuries throughout the season, Dooley went on to play 10 games in his breakout season for the Hurricanes, and would’ve been selected for every match if he had been fit.

He finished the season as the Hurricanes second-highest wicket-taker, with a total of 19 wickets to his name at an average of 12.79. Dooley’s best Big Bash figures to date came against the top-of-the-table Perth Scorchers in Launceston, when he took 4-16 off his four overs, claiming the likes of Faf du Plessis, Josh Inglis and Ashton Agar in his wake.

“It was such a great experience for me this season,” Dooley said of his first year with the Hurricanes.

“Obviously things didn’t go exactly as we wanted on field, and for me personally with my injuries as well, that was a bit frustrating, but it was such a great group of players and coaches to come into, and for someone like me who isn’t in the state system year-round, I learnt so much from being in the Hurricanes environment.

“It was pleasantly surprising to prove to myself more than anyone that my skills can make an impact consistently at this level, so I’m looking forward to getting my body right, working hard in the off-season, and I can’t wait to come back next year.”

Dooley joins Tim David, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Mitch Owen, Billy Stanlake and Matthew Wade as Hurricanes currently signed for BBL|13.
